I was asked to join a group exhibition in May at the Trent Gallery in Pretoria with the title “Assumption”, and to present what it is I would’ve likes to place in the “civilisation” chest left in space.
To me the human assumption that we are the “chosen” species to rule this planet is the highest form of narcissism. There are species of plant and animal that have existed for millennia and they I think can really tell us what it means to exist.
So I created a paper cut of the Fern, from a photo I took in the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens in Cape Town.
